The role
We are recruiting a programme manager to oversee a range of capital projects within the Leisure Capital Programme with a particular focus on delivering playground improvements as part of a £3m play investment programme. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team delivering medium to large-scale construction projects in the Leisure directorate.
The programme manager plays a pivotal role in planning, resourcing and monitoring, a portfolio of projects. Providing oversight and leadership to multiple Project Managers, undertaking line management duties and offering expert technical advice to support delivery of the programme in line with agreed objectives.
About You
You will have a keen interest in parks, play and leisure provision, and be able to champion the broad benefits that access to good quality green spaces, recreational and leisure facilities offer to local communities.
You will have proven project management experience including the successful delivery of construction projects of varying sizes and budgets. You will be capable of managing and leading a team of project managers and be skilled in budget management.
We are looking for people with a passion for working with stakeholders, a collaborative approach, excellent communication skills and the ability to produce complex reports and presentations to a wide range of audiences.

Southwark Council’s Environment, Sustainability and Leisure Department is expanding the team responsible for delivering a portfolio of capital improvement works under the Leisure Capital Programme.

This role is offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of three years.
